About Us
Tranquilliem Health, an independent mental health clinic, was created by Dr. Zafar out of frustration at the current state of outpatient Psychiatric care.
Dr. Zafar is not a typical community psychiatrist. He was a successful engineer in his past career, helping build complex cardiac pacemakers and deep brain stimulators. He worked in both large medical device companies, and medical device incubators before deciding to pursue a career in medicine. With a background in engineering, and an avid interest in Neurology and Neuropsychiatry, he has developed a novel treatment approach based on the latest neurological and psychiatric research.
Having avoided the uninterrupted College-Medical School-Residency path taken by other physicians, Dr. Zafar is able to use his experiences to quickly develop an empathic and in-depth rapport with his patients. In turn, this has helped him build long lasting therapeutic relationships with his patients, while helping them develop a roadmap back to health.
After specializing in General Psychiatry, Dr. Zafar continued his pursuit of academic excellence by further specializing in Addiction Psychiatry. He is currently double board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in General and Addiction Psychiatry.
Our Approach
Tranquilliem Health PLLC is an independent mental health clinic where we believe that Psychiatry is a very unique specialty - it deals with the very foundation of who we are as individuals in our daily lives. Symptomatic prescription of medications without an adequate understanding of the brain, often results in frustration and worsening of mental health. Our approach to Psychiatry encompasses more than just understanding the state of one’s brain. Instead, we try to gain insight into how one’s brain has developed, and currently functions to define who they are as a child, sibling, partner, spouse, parent, grandparent. At Tranquilliem Health our psychiatrists understand how important your mental health is and its effects on your daily life and your loved ones. We also believe that only you are in the driving seat on the journey back to health and happiness and our providers are the navigators in the passenger seat guiding you back to your best potential.
